About World Pianos
What is World Pianos?
World Pianos is a free, open directory of public pianos around the world — street pianos, community pianos, and permanent public installations. Our goal is to be the most reliable place anyone can go to find a piano to play, in any city.
Who runs World Pianos?
World Pianos is created and maintained by Sing for Hope, a nonprofit arts organization that has placed hundreds of artist-decorated pianos in public spaces around the world. Learn more at singforhope.org.
Is it free to use World Pianos?
Yes. World Pianos is completely free. All public pianos in our directory are also free to play — no ticket, reservation, or fee required.
Adding & Updating Pianos
How do I add a piano to the map?
Use the Contact page to send us the location, a photo if you have one, and whether the piano is currently playable. Our team reviews submissions and adds confirmed pianos to the directory.
Can organizations add multiple pianos at once?
Yes — if you're a venue, city program, or nonprofit managing a fleet of public pianos, reach out via the Contact page with a spreadsheet or list. We'll work with you to get them added accurately.
How do I confirm a piano is still playable?
The simplest way is to go play it and then send us a quick note via the Contact page. Alternatively, if a piano listing has contact information for the venue or organization that placed it, you can reach out to them directly.
Map Status & Safety
What does 'uncertain' mean on the map?
A piano marked 'uncertain' hasn't been confirmed playable recently. It may still be there and in good shape — we just haven't had a recent verified report. If you visit an uncertain piano and find it playable (or not), please contact us with an update.
How do I report that a piano is no longer available?
If a piano has been removed, damaged beyond use, or is otherwise no longer playable, please let us know via the Contact page. We update status as quickly as possible so no one wastes a trip.
How do I report a safety issue related to a piano?
Select 'Safety concern' on our Contact page and describe what you observed — broken keys, a damaged frame, or a location that feels unsafe. We take safety concerns seriously and follow up as quickly as possible.
Can I request that my personal data be removed?
Yes. If you've submitted information to us and want it removed, select 'Privacy / data request' on the Contact page. We process all data requests in line with applicable privacy law. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
